I personally LOVE to shop online. I always manage to find cool things that I can't find here locally.

(And don't you love it when your friends always asks you WHERE DID U GET THAT COOL.. (insert your cool product name here) ...etc...etc...etc)

Heck, if my neighborhood supermarket wasn't just down the block, I'd probably do most of the grocery shopping online as well!

I thought to myself one day if I would ever enjoy SELLING stuff online as much as buying stuff online. So I tried it out one day, and let's just say...

I never looked back.

1. An E-Commerce Friendly Product

Firstly, is there a demand for it?

And...

Secondly, can you sell it online? Or to put it into other words, is what you're selling LEGAL?

You can't put something up for sale just for the sake of it being in demand.


2. Setting Up Shop


Well, when you're setting up shop in the World Wide Web it's pretty just looking for a web host to build your website on. And your shop's name is basically going to be your domain name as well.

The price of the web host is pretty much most of the initial investment of setting up shop on the internet.

3.Designing Your Shop

You can go crazy when designing your website but take my advice when I say it's better to try to build your site's theme in relation to the niche that you are trying to market.

If web-designing wasn't really your thing (like me), then you can always hire a Web Designer.

Either way, depending on what you are selling your web site design can range from being fancy to just practical.

In my opinion it would be great if you could strike a balance between clean, simple, practical and functional.

4. Accepting Payments

You have to find a mode on which you can accept payments from your customers. Paypal can be your ideal choice here of you can choose from other numerous “Shopping Cart Software”.

There might be other features that these softwares can provide which might be of interest to you.

5. Spread The Word

Now you have to get the word out and inform other fellow net denizens of the existence of your cool, new, shiny site!

It's best if you can find advertise on sites which are related to your niche.

Social media or social networking sites like Facebook and Tweeter are a good place to start too.

So start telling all your friends about it in Facebook or Tweet about it!


5. Shipping Your Customer Orders

Time to find a reliable courier service to help ship out your goods.  Preferably one that is closest to you.

That way it will be easy for you to ship out the product that has been purchased as soon as possible. A speedy delivery ensure a speedy arrival. And that means a happy customer.

Nothing beats the feeling of receiving e-mails from a very satisfied customers stating how happy they are of my reliable, trustworthy and speedy service :)


6. Rinse & Repeat

You got the word out, people are coming to your site, they like what they see and you see that you have made some sales!

Congratulations! Time to repeat the process, in the meantime try to improve on areas which are needed.

Well, as a personal tip, ask your customers!

I find that I can get good ideas and valuable input by simply getting feedback from them.

Ask them what they DO or DON'T like about your service/website.
